so i paid $260 to see the much acclaimed 'glow in the dark tour'. the weather at the sometimes outdoor molson ampitheatre was shitty and it was insanely cold. however, it was fuckin rad. apparently the cost of the ticket went far, because we got them the day before, and they were basically in the 3rd row right in front of the stage where we had a big lane way in front so we could move around. it was an immensely crazy experience, and to be honest, i was star struck. it was amazing to be able to watch someone perform and have them actually look in your eyes... i know, i sound like some sycophantic loser with bad taste in music, but come on.
it was a mega-concert for the newly reviled 'millennial' generation, complete with neon and 'shutter shade' hand-outs. disses aside, we all know how fantastic a show this was, whether or not you were there. i kinda felt like the whole thing could've been explained as our generation's pink floyd experience. just replace the prolonged guitar solos with synth sounds and heavy beats.
i would have to say that n.e.r.d. was my fav partly because they engaged the audience more than anyone and were extremely entertaining sans the 'glow in the dark' shit. because they went on early and it was still light out, there were little to no effects, so it was straight music. kanye's show was pretty awesome, but because we were so close (ya, fucking fuck), we couldn't see everything. i think that was god's "hahaha" at us for paying so much. psssht, whatever god. also, being so close left me deaf for two days...but it was worth it, i swear.
